The ACTL, in close cooperation with IBFD, offers a one-year full-time LLM programme in international tax law. The IBFD is an internationally renowned tax research foundation based in Amsterdam.
This LLM creates specialists who have a thorough understanding of the underlying principles and practical issues of international tax law and detailed knowledge of the policy options available to states at different stages of development.
‘Our faculty is not only academically excellent but also connected to the practice: private practice, tax authorities, government and the judiciary. Our ambition is to train highly skilled, good international lawyers who stand out in the market and can make a difference!’ - Prof. dr. Sjoerd Douma (Programme Director)
As an advanced Master’s, the programme is intended for a select number of students who already hold a university degree and have experience in tax law. The number of students is limited to allow for lively class discussion and ensure that students receive individual attention.
‘There has never been a more exciting time to study international tax law than now – the topic is firmly on the public agenda and you can see the whole field developing before your eyes just by reading the news.’ - Dr. Joanna Wheeler (Thesis Director)
Please visit the UvA webpage for an interview with the students and alumni of the programme.
